Painter and Stained Glass Artist

Gillian Deeny was born in Belfast in 1936 and studied as a painter at the National College of Art and Design before taking up postgraduate studies in stained glass  at the Centre d’Art Sacre, St. Germain, Paris. In her work Deeny attempts to show the imaginary, visual and emotional way in which we observe the world and our surroundings. The Artist offers to people a different way of looking at and considering their lives on this planet, which we individually and collectively inhabit. She has carried out many commissions including the nave windows in Galway Cathedral and Church of St. Frances of Rome, New York. Many of her smaller panels are in private collections in Ireland, US and the Vatican.
