BIOGRAPHY
Teresa O’ Connor was born in Dublin in 1947 and studied at the Harrow School of Art in Middlesex in 1971, the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2000 and at Trinity College, Dublin in 2002.
O’ Connor views her abstract landscape paintings as a catalyst, a doorway to inner space – ‘our place in the shape of things, the same patterns recurring in all the diverse levels of seeing something, from the lines in our hands, to the satellite photograph, and in between, the warm colours of the desert and the patterns on stone. Earth materials in the texture of paint, echoes of the inner landscape, the richness in the detail…’.
O’ Connor has exhibited in Chamber of Commerce, Bray, Co. Wicklow, (2001), Wexford Opera Festival, Dunbrody Country House, Co. Wexford, (2000), NUI Galway Art Gallery, (2000) and Newbay Country House, Co. Wexford, (2000). Her work is held in the collections of Dun Laoghaire Institue of Art, Design and Technology, Wexford County Council, and numerous private collections.
