BIOGRAPHY

Sylvia Hemmingway studied Fine Art at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin, and works mainly in printmaking, painting and drawing. She has a master’s in fine art and a B.A.(Hons) in Fine Art Printmaking. She has won many awards for her work, including an Arts Council Travel & Training Award, Wexford Co. Council’s Artists Bursary Award and a Golden Fleece Merit Award.

She was a founding director of Blackstack Print Studio, Kilkenny, from 2011 – 2020 and taught print in KCAT, Callan, Blackstack Studio, Leinster Print Studio and also in national schools in south Co. Dublin through Rua Red Arts Centre.

Recent exhibitions include Source Arts Centre Thurles, Kilkenny Arts Office, Kilcock Art Gallery, Blue Egg Gallery, Wexford and touring exhibitions in Ireland and abroad.

Her works are held in collections in Ireland and abroad, including the collections of the O.P.W., Wexford County Council, Kildare County Council, NCAD (Dublin), Wexford VEC, Kilkenny County Council, and the State University of New York.
