BIOGRAPHY

David Begley is an artist, film maker, writer and arts educator, born in Dublin, in 1972. He currently lives and works in County Wexford. He studied at NCAD and The West Wales School of The Arts. Begley’s drawings and paintings have been exhibited in America, Australia, Britain, France, China and he exhibits regularly in Ireland. His anthropomorphic landscapes and allegorical figurative works utilise classical and contemporary techniques whilst drawing upon invention as much as observation.

He has exhibited his animations, drawings, paintings, monotype prints and films nationally and internationally since 1996. His short documentary The Keepers has been selected for Achill Island International film festival 2024.

Begley works in schools through visual art, animation, heritage, gardening, and creative writing. His work is in numerous private and public collections, including Wexford Co. Council, OPW, AXA Insurance, Ireland, Contemporary Irish Art Society, Cross Gallery, Environmental Protection Agency, Filmhouse, Irish National Teachers Organisation, Newtownbarry House Gallery and The Norman Gallery.
